Let’s not be naive: influence peddling is nothing new in the world of politics, especially when it comes to the movers and shakers on capitol hill.
But what is somewhat of a new dimension to the this necessary evil is the brazenness with which Donald Trump and the members of his family are using their positions on capitol hill to enrich their companies and themselves. We know that these so-called “blind trusts” that both the Trump and Kushner families claim to have placed their business interests in are a legal, moral and ethical farce. To wit: in both cases, assets for their respective corporations have been placed under the control of family members, the very reverse opposite of what a blind trust is.
Now, in recent days, Nicole Meyer Kushner, sister of senior White House Advisor Jared Kushner, has been making the rounds and dropping her brothers name like bombs over Baghdad as added “incentive” to get individuals to invest in her various initiatives. One such instance was at an event promoting a Kushner Family construction project in New Jersey, the other of which was at an event in Shanghai, where Meyer Kushner encouraged individuals to invest $500,000 to be able to immigrate to the United States.
Trump promised to “drain the swamp” but between the above mentioned, Ivanka’s fast tracking of trademark permits in China, his tax-payer funded and all-too frequent trips to his properties, his regime seems to be doing anything but.
Think Passionately. Disrupt Strategically.
